Software Defined Networking (SDN) Consultant
SDN Essentials LLC is recruiting for our Sunnyvale, CA office: Software Defined Networking (SDN) Consultant: Design, plan and analyze Software Defined Networks (SDN). Perform design and installation for Broadband Remote Access Service (BRAS) and Juniper ERX platforms. Monitor networks to ensure availability to all SDN system users. Monitor and maintain network availability and test websites to ensure they operate without interruption. Coordinate between network and data communications hardware and software. Install and support the SDNs local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN). Provide SDN training to other network engineers. Administer proof of concepts for software defined architectures. Participate actively in SDN architectural design discussions. Create test plans and initiate proof of concept testing. Write design documents, API documentation and tutorials. Make presentations, train users in complex topics, and interact with upper management, colleagues and customers. May work at other undetermined locations throughout California. Telecommuting allowed and travel required.
Skills and Experience Required:
• BS or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering and 5 years of experience.
• Knowledge of SDN (Software Defined Networking), BRAS (Broadband Remote Access Server, Open Flow networking and routing (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS)

Skills and expertise:
The number one skill is hard ware and desire to succeed, however, we are looking for individuals who have experience in the networking field and have sold services. Also, it would be helpful if you had experience running a team of individuals as there is very clear upward growth potential for this position.
Of course there are the basic skill of working with a CRM, following outlined policies and basic computing skills, but if you are applying for this position we assume you have those!
Professional Services Consultant for SDN/NFV
A Professional Services SDN/NFV Consultant provides consulting, design, and deployment of Software Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualization environments for Enterprise and Service Provider customers. The candidate will use considerable judgment and experience to analyze and evaluate customer environments and develop/deploy appropriate solutions
An instructor reports to the Director of Education Services and works onsite at customer sites or other training locations delivering course materials which include:
1.) SDN Training
2.) Juniper Training
3.) Brocade Training
4.) Cumulus Networks Training
5.) Big Switch Networks Training
Successful candidates are experienced instructors with subject matter expertise and real world experience with routing, switching, and security products. Instructors will work onsite and remotely in both pre-sales and post-sales capacities in support of some of the most recognizable companies in the world.
Successful candidates must have a realistic view of what technical training requires. This position is fast paced, highly technical, demands excellent communication skills, and requires extensive travel at or above 75%. SDN Essentials is looking for candidates with a fun, dynamic personality and the desire to be one of the top instructors in the field. SDN Essentials instructors are given the freedom to manage their own travel and work schedule. Instructors are expected to manage their time productively and to take full ownership and responsibility of their required tasks
Software Networking Application Developer
This position will be working on SDN software development for a variety of applications and platforms. It is expected that this position will be a combination of projects that are billiable to end customers as well as non-billiable internal projects.
Some travel will be required and must be legal to work in the United States to apply.
Professional Services Engineer
A professional services engineer reports to the Director of Professional Services and works onsite in
customer environments on various projects.
Successful candidates are expertise in one of the following areas:
- Juniper Routing and Switching
- Juniper Security (SRX)
- Cisco Routing and Switching
- Brocade Routing and Switching
In many instances this position requires working as a consultant to the customer’s resident engineering staff.
Projects include the design and implementation of firewall, switching, routing and security products in customer networks. Engineers will work onsite and remotely in a post sales capacity to support some of the most recognizable companies in the world. Projects often involve the evaluation of a current solution before implementing a vendor network as its replacement. Additionally, SDN/NFV technologies may be examined as alternatives to traditional networking.
Successful candidates must have a realistic view of what remote onsite consulting requires. This position is fast paced, highly technical, demands excellent communication skills, and requires 50-75% travel. SDN Essentials is looking for candidates with the desire and personality to be one of the top consultants in the field. SDN Essentials engineers are given the freedom to manage their own travel and work schedule. Engineers are expected to manage their time productively and to take full ownership and responsibility of the required project tasks.
This role can be located anywhere in the USA. Certifications are a plus but not required.
